Tribe Moccasins are making the scene!
Mark and I are very excited as our very first celebrity owner of Tribe Moccasins is Murs! We were fortunate enough to meet him at his April Show in Reno, grabbed his shoe size,a few hugs and off we went! Mark made Murs his very own custom pair of mocs that we now dub the color combo the "3:16's". So in between making friends mocs, baby mocs and now a sweet pair for Abstract Rude, we have to figure out a more efficient way to get mocs out the door for the holidays! I am very excited for Mark, the more people that are out there in his shoes the better for Tribe Moccasins! Mahalos to Murs for reppin' Tribe Moccasins ! If anyone is interested in seeing some sweet mocs you can hit up Mark at TheMonkeyUnderground@gmail.com as well! He does custom work so just let him know what you like!!!
atmosphere-To All My Friends...
DAMN!!!! Slug,Ant,Blueprint and the rest of the boys killed it on Sept 25 at the Knitting Factory in Reno! Sorry for the post being so late, life is crazy at the moment but I had to at least post a little bit about the show! First and Foremost-The Knitting Factory has got the concert thing down. Big props to them for bring big names to Reno and keeping the show moving. I love that about good venues! Budo and Grieves with DJ rare grooves started the party off right and then the Man of the Hour- Blueprint, damn that guy puts on a good show! I came to see Atmosphere as it is by far my fave hip hop group but Blueprint stole the fucking show! I love getting that kind of a surprise at a concert. I would never call Blueprint an opening act,as he is a pioneer of hip hop, but the man should have had his own TOUR! He rocked the house and greeted, hugged and high fived every head that stopped and talked to him at the merch booth. Not only an amazing performer but a really nice guy! Then came ATMOSPHERE!!! I have waited many many years to see Slug and Ant perform live(as I missed last years sold out show by about five guys in line in front of me for tickets)and let me tell you...they do not disappoint! Ant and a live band backed Slug and he literally played almost everyone of my favorite songs! Guns and Cigarettes did it for me though, being a long time fan of Lucy Ford I felt blessed to get to hear this song live! I can officially die a happy girl!!!!

Aesop Rock!!!
Went to Aesop Rock last night, truly, it was a better show than I could have even imagined! The venue was pretty tight(knitting factory) and the show was outstanding! I love to go to concerts where it actually seems like everyone is there to have a good time and listen to music, not act like it is some kind of scene to be at. People danced, were polite and really just enjoyed the artist! After the show I actually got to meet Aesop Rock, who is really really tall by the way. He was very gracious and loved the swag bag I had made him from the Monkey Underground! He was a little jealous that Murs got a pair of moccasins so I had to assure him I would get him a pair as well! It was really cool to get to see an artist that I respect so much going through my swag bag, pulling stuff out and getting excited about the precious little thing I make! One of the highlights of my year for sure was being told by AESOP ROCK that he would put my name out there and rep my shit! What a great night all around, good people, good music and good energy was abundant in reno on Saturday August 21st!

friends and crafts
after my little pity party this mourning,I was greeted by friends, was gifted an early day with my husband and made two cute new plushies... so as for my success as an adult,I think I will focus on the haves, not the have nots...dream houses, dream gardens, dream jobs, they can all stay there for now,in my sweet dreams! I'll keep at the hard work it's gotta pay off sometime... xoxo bean
33 years...
birthdays are always good days to look back on your years and ask,"what have I accomplished?" In my 33 years I have many "accomplishments", graduating massage therapy school, getting married ,moving off the north american continent and back, many things have been done, but why at 33 do I feel like I should have done more? I have no tangible proof of being a successful adult... I hope this year brings me something satisfying, something that I can look back on and say I fucking did that.So as my mood dims and my 33rd birthday looms ever so close,I'll be trying to think of something that will make me proud of myself, something to hold over my head and say this was all my doing! But for now I'll just be 32 and somewhat confused with what to do with my life...

New Voodoo dolls baby!
I'm expanding the monkey underground! I have absolutely fell in love with the voodoo dolls I have been making as of late.I think that they are going to have a permanent home in the Underground! They are great for the days you really want to punch the lady on her Iphone that just made you miss your light or the boss that never gets that at 5 p.m. it is quitting time! I'm keeping them unisex at the moment because I really hate making accessories, but who know. So I hope that these little buggers make you as happy as they made me and if you don't feel like sticking pins in them they love hugs too!!!

Craft Fair Success!
Well, in my humble opinion, the craft fair was a success for all of us being first timers in the world of gypsy craft fairs. All in all we had a two very windy but sunny pretty days, ate good food, kept good company and managed to move a few of our very own handmade goods!

Brother and Singer!
I swear there are only a few things in life that get me truly excited! Crafting and sewing being one of them. For the past year my partner in craft crime, Mari has been uber generous in lending me her awesome Brother machine for all of our crazy and sometimes successful projects. Well, with every season comes change and with much anticipated excitement Mari moved into her new home and even cooler NEW CRAFT STUDIO! So off Brother went to his new home and my craft table looked a little sad to say the least. Well, as all good husbands know, idle crafters are a little psychotic. So without further ado(drum roll please...) I introduce to you The Singer 3317, so cute so sturdy and very very loved! I will miss Brother as Mari and I have spent some wonderful moments huddled over him learning, practicing and laughing but I think Singer and Brother will get along just fine and I can't wait to see what we will think to make next!

Craft fair excitement!!!
Wednesdays always seem to be my go to day . Today I'm finishing up all the plushies and starting on the menagerie of sock monkeys I have to assemble. I have been converted by my friend Mari into a list maker but at this point I think the lists are giving me anxiety like never before. I just looked over my list and I am now having a mild panic attack... 23 monkeys to cut, stuff and hand stitch together,10 plushies needing eyes and accouterments, necklaces and bracelets to be strung and about 200 one inch squares of felt to be glued... nope no pressure here! With only nine more days before the craft fair that I'm hosting, I better get to crafting! On a lighter note I do have eight monkeys ready for adoption! Maybe that is what my lists will be from now on, COMPLETED PROJECTS!!!(Hmm maybe I'll make a pretty notebook just for that!)
